Adventures In Salt Dough Part 1

Drinking: Cherry Pepsi
Watching: The X-Files

That's right, folks! I finally made salt dough! I followed this recipe from the More Like Home blog.

They're still drying, but I'm in love with them already. If they turn out like I hope then I have a pretty cute DIY under my sleeve.

Have you guys made salt dough before?

Rainy morning.

Drinking: Tea
Listening: Christina Perri

This morning is lovely. It's pouring outside & I'm in my office sipping tea & waking up.

This past weekend Jordan & I escaped to the north. His grand parents have a darling little cabin that they were kind enough to let us use for the weekend. It was a simple time... riding the four-wheeler, fishing, strolling through a thrift market... I enjoy doing simple things with Jordan, which, I suppose, is wonderful thing. :)

I hope you all enjoy these pictures! Have a good one!

Dresser Re-Vamp x2 / Wedding Art Work

Drinking: Tea
Listening: Bombay Bicycle Club

Just wanted to share another project that I tackled this past weekend. Jordan and I were looking for more storage in our bedroom. All of our furniture is a hodge podge of mismatched items, though, so it was hard for me to figure out what to do.
This dresser was part of a set my parents bought when they had me. The green paint is as old as I am, so we decided it needed to go. I had a lot of paint left over from when I did this re-vamp so I busted those cans of paint out.

I decided to paint the drawers black. I was going to go chalkboard paint, but decided against it at the last minute.

The body was painted white.

After a couple coats of paint Jordan brought it inside and shimmed it up for me. I got to decorating!

The art is one of the guestbooks from our wedding made by our dear friend Liz. I am so happy with how it looks sitting on top of the dresser. The carving is something Jordan's parents gave us once we got engaged and it's one of my favorite things. If you look in past pictures you can see that it kind of makes it's way around the house. :) One of my favorite parts about this dresser is the porcelain white knobs. They ended up looking amazing!

I'm super happy with how this turned out! It's a little "stark" for me - but it's way better than the green that was on there. I'm thinking maybe a stencil on the sides or something with a pop of color to make it a little more fun. What do you guys think?

Shop Update / What I'm Reading

Drinking: Coffee (yawn!)
Listening: Guster

Good morning, good morning! I put the utensils I talked about in this post up in the shop last night. You can check them out here!

I also wanted to share what I've been reading off and on lately. It's been hard to find time to read full books since Jordan and I were engaged. There's just no time! I did start a good book on leadership on the honeymoon that I have to finish, but this is one I'm constantly coming back to.

I really love Mark Driscoll. I listen to him online, read his blog and even read his books. This one is fantastic because it shows real stories from a human level. If you ever have a chance to read it, you should.

Dresser Re-vamp

Drinking: Water
Listening: Laura Marling

I am so excited to share this dresser re-vamp that I did recently. This was a dresser that Jordan bought at Salvation Army when he moved to this side of the state. It started out a poop brown dresser with zero character and terrible hardware.

I went to Menards and bought two cans of paint. White and black. All totaled I think this project cost me $16. I have a ton of paint left over, too! #winning To be honest, the handles are what I love the most about the finished project. The hardware turned out fantastic! Couldn't be more happy!

I absolutely love the way this project turned out! It was cheap and totally changed the face of this piece of furniture. It also added some great character to Jordan and I's room, which is something I love.

Have you guys been working on and re-vamps this spring? I feel like I get the itch to change up some furniture every time Spring rolls around and I love it!

Creating / Official Etsy Announcement

Drinking: Water
Listening: The Barr Brother (Beggar In The Morning = fantastic!)

I can count on my hands the things that bring me more joy than creating. I love mixing, making, crumpling & starting over...

Yesterday was full.

Jordan and I cleaned, straightened, pushed, pulled and stacked. Several breaks were taken. Jordan played the guitar, I made these.

They are up for sale in my Etsy shop. What's that, you ask? Yes, you heard (or read) correctly. I officially opened an Etsy and I'm slowing filling it with all sorts of cute things. So far you can find a cute sampling of mugs & prints. I will be adding these this week sometime...

Forgive the instagram quality. They actually look fantastic! I will have several sets of those available in the shop soon.

So head over to the shop and check it out: This Nifty Earth.

I am excited to show you the other projects we've been working on. I do the painting projects and Jordan does the hammer & nail projects. It works out quite nicely. I think we're  pretty great together and I could not be more happy about where we are right now.

Time flies...

Drinking: Coffee
Listening: Dispatch

Sometimes things go by so fast...

Like the fact Jordan and I have been married 2 weeks now. I mean, really. My mind is completely blown by that.
Or the fact that my group of high schoolers are graduating this year and I've been involved with them since they were sophomores.
Or the fact that my baby sister can start applying to colleges.
Or the fact that I've been at Grabber for 4 years now.

This weekend even went by too fast and I never say that! I just really want to savor this small moments that I'm surrounded by. Ew. I know, I'm not cheesy... So I don't know why I'm nostalgic this morning.

But I do know one thing... I love that Jordan and I walked out of the house at the same time to go to work. I loved every second of the time from the door to the time he kissed my forehead on the sidewalk.

Enjoy this fantastic song on me.

Photobooth.

Drinking: Mimosa
Watching: Law & Order

With the help of many hands our wedding came together flawlessly. One of my favorite parts was the DIY Photobooth we made. Simple, elegant and perfect.

We mixed it up with 2 different quotes on the different sheets of paper. On the left are the lyrics to the song Adam Sandler sings to Drew Barrymore on The Wedding Singer. On the right, one of the most beautiful professions of love to ever be written; "You have bewitched me body & soul & I love, I love, I love you." Ah, Mr. Darcy... why must you be such a heartbreaker?
