DIY // Chalkboard Clipboard

Drinking: Water
Listening:  Good Charlotte

I've been wanting to make this project for a long time. I've had all the goodies in my office just waiting for the perfect time! I got the itch a couple weeks ago when I had some spare time and out came this finished project. Check it out...

You'll need:
-Clipboard
-Foam brushes and small brushes
-Chalkboard paint

1. Gather your supplies and find a place that you can paint on. I use this cardboard box for all of my projects... you've probably seen it before. Hahaha.

2. I started by tying the clip "open" so I could paint under it. I pinched it, like I was going to clip something to the board, but tied the two holes together, so it remained open while I painted.

3. Using the small brush I painted under the clip and around the metal area. I finished by using the foam brush to paint the larger area with several coats.

I'm loving this finished product! So many options! I've been using my test board so much since I made it! I have several up for sale in my shop that you should check out! What about you guys? Do you like this project? Where could you use this in your normal routine?

Eats // Parmesan Knots

Drinking: Water
Listening: We The Kings

I wanted to make some quick tasty knots to go along with dinner the other day and whipped these puppies up in 15 minutes!

You'll need:
1 Package of Crescent Rolls
Parmesan
Butter (I used a spay bottle)
Your choice of seasonings

Take each piece and roll into a line using your hands on the counter top. Once you have it looking decently even, tie in a knot and place on a baking sheet. Continue until all the knots have been made. Then spray with butter and season away. Bake according to the directions on the package. I did these at 350 for 11 minutes.

Add them in a cute bowl and BAM! You're ready to go! What do you guys think these would go well with?

DIY // Homemade Shredded Packing Paper

Drinking: Water
Listening: Brand New

I've been searching in vain for a cheap alternative to bubble wrap that is more eco friendly. Well, unfortunately being cheap AND eco friendly don't go hand in hand most of the time. Sure, paper isn't that expensive, but it sure isn't saving money when I have tons of news paper in the house. Solution? Shred the unwanted news paper that is ALWAYS in the mail box.

Materials:
News Paper
Shredder

Step 1: Shred the news paper. Step 2: Store in a cute bin so you can admire your cheap handy work.

So rest easy! If you buy anything from the shop it will arrive at your door with pretty shredded paper to keep it from getting squished.

What about you guys? Do you re-purpose anything around your homes?

Fishing Date

Drinking: Milk
Listening: Ben Howard

Jordan and I went out fishing several weeks ago. I brought a blanket, he brought a fishing pole. I did catch one - but I more than often just talk to him or watch him fish. I love being with him.

What are some fun and simple things you do with people you love?

DIY // Polka Dot Mug

Drinking: Fizzie Water
Listening: Alt-J

As a lot of people know, I love coffee. Which means, I love mugs, too. I designed this mug for my shop several weeks ago, but I wanted you to see how I made it. It's super simple.

Materials:
Sealant (not pictured)
Hole Punch
Contact Paper
Oil Based Sharpie
Ceramic Mug

1. Punch holes in the contact paper. I chose to do a lot on this one, but I've made others that only had a row or two of dots. The possibilities are endless.

2. Stick the contact paper to the mug where you want the dots and color them in fully with the sharpie. Then bake according to the instructions on the back.
3. Finish with sealant.

Boom. You're done! Now you have a fancy pants mug to drink your snobby coffee out of. What could be better? Well... a lot of things, but who cares?

Are you guys making anything fun this week? I would love to hear about it! Show me via instagram or twitter @margeauxcotton.

Five Things I Love #20

1. The Gawker sites.
3. This pillow that I made last night.
4. These shoes. I've been waiting for them to go on sale for almost 2 months now. What are the odds that when I walk into Target they would have the last pair in my size and on sale? Man, the Lord takes care of me.
5. This song.

DIY // Trashcan Re-style

Drinking: Water
Listening: Grace Potter + the Nocturnals

I love metallic colors.

This is no secret, I'm sure. Gold, silver, bronze... I'm not picky. I adore it it. So that's why my mind started racing when I got this plain 'ol red trash can for a $1 at Dollar Tree. I had the pray paint for a while, but this was a low project for me. I finally did it while I was watching tv several weeks ago and I'm loving how it turned out.

Materials:
-Spray Paint (I chose a gold that I had laying around)
-Spray Sealant
-$1 Store Trashcan

 1. Wipe down the trashcan and make sure there isn't any dust on it before you start painting.
 2. I placed mine upside down and gave it two liberal coats. I was careful not to layer too much paint on areas that might drip.
 3. Once the first two coats dried, I flipped it over and repeated on the inside.

4. Once the gold paint was dry I gave a quick coat of sealant for good measure. I doubt this will see too much wear and tear, but I wanted my bases covered.

 5. Enjoy your handy work! Pat yourself on the back! You just made something sweet!

Are you guys doing any office restyles lately?

Shalom
